Amazon hiring in Finland

In August 2017 it was rumored that Amazon would be hiring in Finland. And indeed a year later the company is actively seeking employees for it's Lab126 division in Espoo. The move comes following other technology giants like Zalando and Zynga, who have set up technology centers in the nordic country.

Lab126 is specialised in device development, so it is likely that the company is trying to lure in some experienced talent from the Nokia cluster. Currently the company is hiring a Technical Programme Manager with the following key tasks:

  • Work with key stakeholders in product management and executive teams to define strategy and requirements
  • Lead cross functional development on new technology from design through delivery
  • Work with remote teams to deliver supporting software and services in sync with launch timelines
  • Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks and change control

The job is clearly aimed at established professionals as it requires a minimum of five years of working experience in challenging duties, combining software and device development:

  • Bachelor's degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in technical program/project management in a consumer electronics environment
  • 5+ years of experience defining projects, collecting requirements, writing detailed functional and test specifications, coordinating efforts to scope, schedule, and deploy new features sets
  • 2+ years of experience analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection

The job is posted on Linked In: Technical Program Manager for Amazon L126
