Finnish customs to hold a large Russian car auction

The Finnish customs office will hold a car auction next week in northern Finland. The cars in question were abandoned by asylum seekers to the Salla border crossing and is largely made out of Russian built cars.

The list of cars and pictures of them were published on the Finnish customs website on Friday 8th of July and the auction itself will be held on the 16th and 17th.

There is a total of 128 cars and they are listed as being in bad condition. Russian makes make up a majority of the cars for sale with Lada being the most common brand, but there are also some Volgas and a few western and Japanese makes.

The auction has sparked the interest of enthusiasts who rarely have the opportunity to select from such a large collection from eastern cars. The customs official Kari Hannu reminds that the cars are sold in the condition they are in.

These Russian imported automobiles at sale are not eligible for returns or exchanges and that any information stated such as year or mileage can not be guaranteed. The auction is 15th and 17th of July 2016 in Postipolku 3, 98900 Salla.

The auction is a potential gold mine for anyone seeking access to a Russian car or possible even a moving relic of the Soviet era. The full list of cars is available online in PDF format, with some samples shown below.
