How does the powertrain of a Formula 1 racing car differ from a road car?

By weight and endurance. The transmission and powertrain of a F1 car doesn't need to last longer than a few thousand kilometres, where as a road car needs to do a minimum of 160 000 kilometres. In addition the components in F1 are far smaller, lighter and much more expensive. The mechanical basics and designs are roughly the same.
