Is the dump/blowoff valve of a F1 turbo engine ever used?

Is the dump/blowoff valve of a modern Formula 1 car ever used? If so, under what circumstances? Due to limitations in fuel flow, it would seem that it would be used only in case of malfunctions?

The blowoff valve is open at times. The system can attain over pressure that needs to be released. For example during gear changes the valve can be open for a short moment. Even though dumping results in wasted energy, it is necessary during up and downshifting due to practical reasons.
