What is the effect of wind to a Formula 1 car?

How do wind conditions affect F1 cars? Is wind speed and direction something the teams consider in qualifying sessions, for exsample?

Gusts of wind have a huge impact in how the car performs. This is similar to slipstreaming behind another car and the teams definitely make note and try to take advantage of the wind conditions during qualifying sessions.
