How economical are the Turbo V6 engines in F1 compared to older V8s?
How much more economical are the new Turbo V6 engines used in Formula 1 compared to the naturally aspirated V8s used before?
The are a lot more economical. A Formula 1 car with a V8 engine consumed about 60-70 litres per 100 kilometres. With the modern V6 Turbo engines it is around 44 litres. This is a tremendous improvement, especially considering lap times have not dropped significantly.
