How hot are the preheated tires in Formula 1?
Formula 1 cars have tires that require high temperatures to work correctly. They are preheated with mats that removed just before the car leaves the pit. How hot are the tires when the mats are removed?
It depends on a compound in use, but they are usually heated for somewhere between an hour or two to reach temperatures of somewhere between 90 and 110 celsius. In the starting grid they are usually higher to guarantee optimal temperatures at race start after the warmup lap.
