Restoring energy from F1 racing car front wheels?

Why is kinetic energy not stored from the front wheels? Couldn't these generators be used as engines too, making Formula 1 cars four wheel drives. With electronics, even traction control would be possible.

This boils down to regulations. They aim at keeping the cars as simple as possible. The idea sounds like a viable path to explore. If rules allowed this, it would be further examined by the Formula 1 Teams if it were allowed.
