Why does Ferrari employ a different suspension in Formula 1?

During seasons 2014 and 2015 Ferrari had a different suspension than any other teams. They were using pull rods, where all other teams were opting for push rod suspension.

The suspension implementations is usually dictated by aerodynamics. The teams select a path and then follow that. In Formula 1 cars the range of travel for suspension is very small compared to some other racing cars. Ferrari used pull rods for a number of years, as many others have done in the past. For season 2016 they followed suit and now employ a push rod suspension.
