Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon where systems cannot be described independently, even though they are located far away from each other. The theory comes from Albert Einstein in 1935, and since that it's been widely believed that it cannot occur in anything beyond atomic or molecular level.

A new international school located in Espoo's Keilaniemi region will open in August 2018. The school does not have an official status, so for the first year it functions as a private school with tuition fee of 10,000 euros. The new school is located in the building that was the Fortum headquarters.

Finnish telecoms gear manufacturer Nokia reported weak results for the first quarter of 2018. The umbers were significantly worse than market expectations. In a positive statement, Nokia CFO Kristian Pullola believes that the strong demand for fifth generation (5G) network equipment will improve results in the third quarter and beyond.

The mining company Keliber applies to start mining for lithium in Syväjärvi region in Finland. The environmental application includes mining ore and residual material, as well as building the required facilities and shutting down once mining is completeted.

Fifteen years ago two Finnish security researchers, Tomi Tuominen and Timo Hirvonen visited a hacker event in Berlin. On this trip a laptop was stolen from their hotel room. The incident was never resolved, but the pair kept an eye on hotel room security systems.

In late April 2018 the drilling of the deepest hole in Finland was completed. The 6,4 km deep hole is a drilled by St1 Deep Heat, who aims to draw geothermal energy to heat homes and businesses in the Nordic country sustainably.
