Finland will not extend initial basic income experiment beyond 2018

Finland decided to give universal basic income a two year trial for 2017-2018. Basic income is a form of social welfare where citizens get paid regularly without any restrictions. The idea is that this will reduce time spent on bureaucracy and the efforts can be spent on more productive things.

Urban IKEA store in Helsinki inches forwards with city council approval

In early March the Swedish furniture giant IKEA revealed it's plans of building of a store in the Finnish capital Helsinki.

Now Helsinki city council has decided to reserve real estate for the proposed IKEA shopping complex on the Koivusaari island. The decision was made on Monday April 17th 2018.

130,000 login details leaked in Finland

Helsinki new business centers online site Liiketoimintasuunnitelma.com has had a security breach. The open service had around 130,000 emails, usernames and passwords that have been leaked. The passwords are in clear text and directly readable.

Finland aims to be the leader in battery technology in Europe

It is estimated that the demand for batteries with increase tenfold from 2015 to 2020. The demand is driven by electric vehicles and storage of renewable energy. Business Finland has started a program to boost the Finnish battery industry to make the country a world class player in the business.
