A group of Finnish sauna societies are trying to get the activity to the United Nations' UNESCO living heritage list. In November 2017 sauna going was added to the national heritage list in Finlland, along with 51 other activities.

A fourth of the warming of the arctic area comes from black soot emissions. Finland is the highest emitter of this form of pollution, with the majority of it coming from fireplaces and sauna stoves. Emissions of dangerous particles to health are highest when burning wet wood.

The prospects of Rovio were not favourable to the company's stock price. The mobile gaming company, famous for it's Angry Birds games, lost over fifty percent of it's market capital. The company listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange in September 2017.

This is caused by a variety of factors from building materials to higher radio frequencies being adopted. Now a Finnish startup called StealthCase claims to have come up with a solution to fix poor network signals indoors.

Finnish customs made a large confiscation of Bitcoins in 2016. At that time the virtual currency was worth around 600 US Dollars. Now a single Bitcoin is worth over 10,000, and currently the total seized assets are worth over 20 Million dollars - close to 20 Million Euros.

Ugandan Daily Monitor newspaper reports that a third dead foreigner, citizen of the United States, has been found in the East African country. The death follows a series of two suspicious deaths, first a Finnish man on business in the country was found dead in a hotel room. This was shortly followed by a Swedish citizen found dead in the capital Kampala.

Internet company Yandex has a data center in Finland, which produces an abundance of heat. The northern country has an appetite for heating energy during the winter months. Engineers put one and one together and the servers now heat homes at large scale through district heating.

Suomi.fi is a state run web service in Finland. The portal provides information and online access to public services from many government organizations. Population Register Centre, the body behind Suomi.fi has now organized a bug bounty program with rewards of up to 30,000 euros.
